The county the train only half serves
Three Metro-North lines run south through Westchester and all three end at Grand Central. That is excellent if your morning ends on East 42nd Street. For everything else — a meeting on the West Side, a flight out of Newark, a 6am departure from a town the train reaches once an hour — the timetable stops being the answer.

Metro-North does not go to Penn Station
Not yet, and not soon. The Penn Station Access project will eventually bring New Haven Line trains into Penn via the Hell Gate Line, but it broke ground in 2022 and the MTA has said completion could slip to 2030. The Hudson Line phase is not funded at all.
Until then, every Metro-North train from Westchester arrives at Grand Central. If your meeting is in Hudson Yards, your flight is from Newark, or you are catching an Amtrak from Penn, the train leaves you with a crosstown journey at the worst possible moment.

The three lines do not talk to each other
Hudson, Harlem and New Haven run roughly parallel from north to south and meet properly only in Manhattan. Getting from Rye to Chappaqua by rail means travelling an hour south and most of an hour back north.
Across the county the roads are twenty minutes. This is why so much of our Westchester work is not commuting at all — it is moving people sideways, between towns the timetable was never built to connect.
Four airports, and they are not equally easy
Westchester County (HPN) is the quiet advantage of living here. It sits beside the Purchase and Armonk corporate corridor, about ten minutes from White Plains, and it handles well over a million departing passengers a year with JetBlue carrying more than half of them. For Florida, Chicago, Atlanta and Washington it is often the sensible choice before anyone thinks about Queens. It is also one of the busiest general aviation fields in the region, so if you are flying privately this is usually where the aircraft is.
LaGuardia is the closest of the three big airports, roughly forty to seventy minutes depending on where in the county you start and what the Hutchinson River Parkway is doing.
JFK runs sixty to ninety minutes, more at the end of the working day. International departures from Westchester want an early start, and the hour saved by leaving before the Cross County traffic builds is a real hour.
Newark is the hard one. Every route crosses the Hudson, so every route is tolled, and the bridge you take changes the journey by half an hour. We quote it flat with the tolls inside the number, which is worth checking against anyone else's quote — that is the figure most commonly left out.
Flight tracking is on every airport booking, not an extra. If the aircraft is late, the pickup moves, and there is no charge for a delay you did not cause.
Where a car earns its place in Westchester

Corporate accounts
The county's corporate corridor runs from Purchase through Armonk to Tarrytown, and almost none of it is walkable from a station. Monthly billing, agreed rates on routine routes, and one invoice instead of forty expense claims.

Airport transfers
Door to terminal with the flight tracked. For the early departures that make Westchester worth living in, the car is outside before the first train runs.

Weddings
Westchester venues are beautiful and badly connected, which is exactly when a guest shuttle stops being a luxury. Send us the address: many driveways take our 28-seat mini coach but not a full-size vehicle.

As directed
Property viewings, a day of meetings across three towns, school tours. The car stays with you rather than being summoned between each stop.

Into Manhattan
Dinner, the theatre, a late event. The last useful train home is earlier than people remember, and it does not stop outside the restaurant.

Group travel
Company days, school trips, conference shuttles. Sprinters to fourteen, the mini coach to twenty-eight, the Mercedes coach to fifty-six.
The whole county, and over the line
Southern Westchester. Yonkers, Bronxville, Pelham, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Rye and Harrison.
White Plains and the centre. White Plains, Purchase, Valhalla, Hawthorne, Elmsford, Greenburgh and Tarrytown.
The river towns. Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Ardsley, Sleepy Hollow, Briarcliff Manor and Ossining.
Northern Westchester. Armonk, Chappaqua, Mount Kisco, Bedford, Katonah, Pound Ridge, Somers, Yorktown, Croton-on-Hudson and Peekskill.
Over the Connecticut line. Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Cos Cob, Riverside, Stamford, Darien and New Canaan are a short run from eastern Westchester, and we work that corridor daily in both directions.
And south. Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and northern New Jersey, plus Fairfield County and the Hudson Valley.
A flat rate, agreed before you book
Westchester runs are quoted flat, point to point, with tolls, parking and gratuity inside the figure. The rate does not change with demand, weather, traffic or the hour, so a 5am airport run in February costs what we said it would in January.
A day of meetings across several towns is hourly with a minimum, because the car waits rather than leaving and returning. For a regular route — the same station run, the same office, the same days — a corporate account fixes the rate and bills monthly.
Car service in Westchester
How long does it take from Westchester to Manhattan?
Forty-five to seventy-five minutes from the middle of the county to Midtown, depending on where you start and the hour. Southern Westchester is faster, northern slower, and anything between 7am and 10am inbound should be given extra room.
Is a car cheaper than the train?
For one person on a standard commute into Grand Central, no, and we will say so. A car earns its place when the train does not fit the journey: early departures, late returns, luggage, a destination the crosstown leaves you short of, or two or more people travelling together, at which point the arithmetic changes quickly.
Do you serve Westchester County Airport?
Constantly. HPN is ten minutes from White Plains and sits beside the Purchase and Armonk corridor, and it handles a great deal of private and corporate aviation as well as scheduled flights. Give us the tail number or flight number and we track it.
Can you reach Newark from Westchester?
Yes, and it is the airport most worth booking rather than improvising. Every route crosses the Hudson and is tolled, and the crossing you take changes the journey by half an hour. Our quote includes the tolls.
Do you cross into Connecticut?
Daily. Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and New Canaan are a short run from eastern Westchester, and the corridor works in both directions. New Jersey and the Hudson Valley are routine too.
Can you handle a 4am airport pickup?
Yes. Reservations are answered 24 hours and early departures are ordinary work here, which is much of the point: the first useful train does not run at that hour, and from most of the county there is nothing else.
Do you have corporate accounts?
Yes. Agreed rates on routine routes, monthly invoicing, a certificate of insurance on request, and a named contact rather than an app. See corporate car service, or the page for executive assistants who book on behalf of others.
What about a group?
Sprinter vans take fourteen, our mini coach twenty-eight and the Mercedes motor coach fifty-six. For a Westchester venue, send the address first: country club and estate driveways often take the mini coach but not a full-size vehicle.
