Which crossing you use decides the journey

Brooklyn is bigger than most American cities and its neighbourhoods are nothing like each other. A trip from Williamsburg and a trip from Bay Ridge share almost nothing, and the difference between a good journey and a bad one is usually which bridge or tunnel the driver picks before setting off.

Four ways in, and they are not interchangeable

Brooklyn Bridge drops you at City Hall and the Financial District. No toll, which is why it is always busy.

Manhattan Bridge feeds Canal Street and the Lower East Side. Also free, often the quicker of the two.

Williamsburg Bridge is the one for the East Village and anywhere above Houston on the east side.

Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel is tolled but is the only sensible route to the west side and to Midtown in heavy traffic.

Neighbourhood by neighbourhood

Where you are changes everything

Williamsburg & Greenpoint — closest to Midtown, worst on weekend nightsWilliamsburg Bridge
DUMBO & Brooklyn Heights — cobbled streets, tight kerbside, film crewsBrooklyn or Manhattan Bridge
Park Slope & Prospect Heights — brownstone blocks, limited stoppingManhattan Bridge or BQE
Red Hook — no subway, which is why cars matter hereBattery Tunnel
Bay Ridge & Dyker Heights — closer to Staten Island than to MidtownVerrazzano or BQE
Bushwick & Bed-Stuy — spread out, addresses matter more than areasWilliamsburg Bridge
Downtown Brooklyn — courts, offices, hotels, constant constructionAny of the four

DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights deserve a warning. Cobbles, narrow one-ways and frequent film permits mean the kerb you expect may be closed. Tell us the building and we will agree a stopping point rather than circling.

What people book

The work we do in Brooklyn

Airport transfer from Brooklyn in New York
JFK · LGA · EWR

Airport transfers

Brooklyn is closer to JFK than Manhattan is, which surprises people. Newark is the long one — it crosses the whole city and a tolled crossing on top.

Wedding car outside a Brooklyn venue
Waterfront venues

Weddings

Brooklyn weddings often mean a venue the guests cannot easily reach. A guest shuttle from a Manhattan hotel solves more problems than anything else you can book.

Games and concerts

Nineteen thousand people leave at once onto Atlantic Avenue. Booked hourly, your chauffeur waits at an agreed point instead of trying to reach you through it.

Corporate travel

More companies sit in Brooklyn every year. Accounts get monthly invoicing, agreed rates and bookers who do not need sign-off each time.

Car service to the Brooklyn cruise terminal
Red Hook, Pier 12

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

Cunard and Princess sail from here. Vehicle entry is at Bowne and Imlay Street, and cruise luggage usually needs more vehicle than people expect.

Up to 14 passengers

Groups and nights out

Brooklyn evenings sprawl across neighbourhoods that are nowhere near each other. One vehicle held for the night beats finding four cars at two in the morning.

Worth knowing

Two Brooklyn specifics

The BQE is not a shortcut. It is the only continuous route through the borough, which means when it backs up there is no alternative. We plan around it rather than onto it.

Weekend nights in Williamsburg are the hardest driving in the borough. If your evening ends there, hourly hire is worth it for the certainty alone.

Common questions

Brooklyn car service

How long does it take from Brooklyn to JFK?

Typically 25 to 50 minutes depending on the neighbourhood and the hour. Brooklyn is closer to JFK than Manhattan is, so this is usually the easiest airport run you can make.

Which bridge will the driver use?

Whichever suits your destination and the traffic that day. Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges feed Downtown and the Lower East Side, the Williamsburg Bridge serves the east side above Houston, and the Battery Tunnel is the route to the west side. The choice matters more than most people realise.

Can a car stop outside my building in DUMBO or Brooklyn Heights?

Often, but not always. Cobbles, one-way streets and film permits change the picture week to week. Give us the address when you book and we will agree a stopping point rather than circling on the day.

Do you serve all of Brooklyn?

Yes, from Greenpoint to Coney Island. Addresses matter more than neighbourhood names here, so send the full address.

Can you do a wedding guest shuttle from Manhattan?

Yes, and for a Brooklyn venue it is the single most useful thing you can book. One coach removes the risk of guests arriving during the ceremony. See coach hire.

Are tolls included?

Yes, on the agreed route. The Battery Tunnel is tolled; the bridges are not. See our rates page.
