Check which terminal before you book anything
Three terminals serve New York cruises and they are miles apart. Worse, cruise documents often say “New York” when the ship is actually in Bayonne, New Jersey. People book a car to Manhattan and find out at the pier.

Cruise luggage does not fit in a sedan
A family of four on a ten-day sailing travels with six to eight cases, often with formalwear bags on top. That is not a sedan journey, and discovering it on the kerb at seven in the morning is a bad way to start a holiday.
Tell us the real bag count when you book and we will put you in the right vehicle. A Suburban takes six passengers with five large cases; a Sprinter handles a family group with everything they own.
Which one is yours, and what it means for the journey
Manhattan Cruise Terminal
Brooklyn Cruise Terminal
Cape Liberty, Bayonne
Send us the terminal name from your cruise documents, not the city. If it says Cape Liberty, the journey is to New Jersey and the route, the time and the price are all different from a Manhattan sailing.
When to leave, and why earlier is not always better
Cruise lines give you a boarding window, not a departure time. Everybody tries to arrive at the start of it, which is why the worst congestion at every terminal is between eight and eleven in the morning on sailing days.
If your boarding window is flexible, arriving an hour later than the crowd is often quicker overall. We will tell you honestly which is better for your terminal and date.
Most sailings are Saturday or Sunday. That is good news on the roads out of Manhattan and bad news at the terminal itself, where a whole ship arrives in the same few hours.
Tell us your boarding window and your pickup address and we will work backwards from it, with the buffer the day actually needs rather than the one a map suggests.
Disembarkation is the harder half
Several thousand people clear customs inside a ninety-minute window, walk out with all their luggage, and look for a ride at the same moment. Taxi queues at the terminals on those mornings are long, and app pricing reflects exactly how stuck everybody is.
- Book the return before you sail. You will not have signal or patience on the morning
- Give us your disembarkation group or time if the line has assigned one
- Agree the meeting point in advance, away from the main doors
- Allow for customs — it moves at its own pace and we build that in
- Flying the same day? Send the flight number and we plan the whole chain
- Flat rate, agreed before you sail, with no surge on a busy morning
Three shapes of cruise journey

Airport to terminal
The most common booking. Flight tracked, so a delay on the day before your cruise does not become a missed pickup. Newark is closest to Cape Liberty; LaGuardia to Manhattan.

One vehicle, everybody together
Multi-generational cruise parties are common, and so is underestimating the luggage. A Sprinter takes fourteen people and the cases, in one trip.

Hotel stays and city time
Many people arrive a day early or stay a day after. Booked hourly, the car handles the hotel, the sightseeing and the terminal without you arranging each leg.
Cruise terminal transfers
My documents say New York. Which terminal is that?
It could be any of three. Manhattan Cruise Terminal is at 711 12th Avenue in Midtown West, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is at 72 Bowne Street in Red Hook, and Cape Liberty is at 4 Port Terminal Boulevard in Bayonne, New Jersey. Check the terminal name on your documents rather than the city, and send it to us.
Which airport is closest to my terminal?
Newark is about nine miles from Cape Liberty. LaGuardia is roughly ten miles from the Manhattan terminal. JFK is about twelve miles from Brooklyn. Flying into the wrong one adds an hour and a toll.
What vehicle do I need for cruise luggage?
More than you think. Two people with two large cases fit a sedan. A family of four on a longer sailing usually needs an SUV at minimum, and often a Sprinter. Tell us the bag count and we will be straight with you.
When should I be dropped off?
Within your boarding window, and usually not at the very start of it — that is when everybody else arrives. Send us the window and your pickup address and we will suggest a time.
Can you collect me when the ship returns?
Yes, and book it before you sail. Disembarkation puts thousands of people outside the terminal within about ninety minutes, and that is the worst possible moment to be looking for a ride. We agree a meeting point in advance.
Do you handle cruise-to-airport on the same day?
Yes. Send us the flight number along with the ship and we plan the whole chain, with realistic time for customs rather than optimistic time.
Are tolls included?
Yes, on the agreed route. This matters most for Cape Liberty, where every approach from New York crosses a tolled crossing. See our rates page.
