A chauffeur is not a driver with a nicer car
The word gets used loosely, so it is worth being plain about what it means here. A chauffeur is employed, licensed for passenger carriage, trained, insured on our policy and known to us by name. They are not a stranger matched to you ninety seconds before pickup by an algorithm.

What the training is actually for
Most of it is not driving. It is knowing which door of a hotel a car may stop at, which Midtown blocks will be closed on a parade morning, how long the Van Wyck really takes at five on a Friday, and when to say nothing at all because the passenger is on a call.
It is also luggage, umbrellas, a bottle of water that is already cold, and the discipline of being early every time rather than on time most times.

Two different things, priced differently
A transfer is one journey, A to B. An airport run, a dinner, a theatre pickup. Quoted flat, and the car leaves when you arrive.
Chauffeur service is the car and the person staying with you for a block of time. Meetings across three addresses, a day of viewings, an evening with four stops, a visiting executive who needs someone for two days. Quoted by the hour with a minimum, because the waiting is the point.
Most people asking for a chauffeur want the second and are quoted the first. We will tell you which one actually fits what you described.
What a corporate or security team asks before they book
Licensing. Our chauffeurs hold the New York TLC licence required to carry passengers for hire, and commercial endorsements where the vehicle requires them. This is not the same as a private driving licence and it cannot be bought in an afternoon.
Insurance. Commercial cover on every vehicle, with a certificate of insurance available on request. Corporate, legal and school clients usually need one for their own records, and we would rather send it before you ask.
Discretion. A chauffeur hears a great deal. Ours understand that the back of the car is a private room and behave accordingly, which is most of why clients keep requesting the same person.
Continuity. On an account we try to send the same chauffeur to the same client. It sounds like a small thing until the fourth visit, when nobody has to explain the building entrance again.
When a chauffeur earns the difference

Executive and corporate
A visiting director for three days, a board that needs moving between offices, a chief executive who would rather read than drive.

As directed
The plan changes during the day, which is exactly why the car stays. No waiting for a new driver between stops, no explaining the route again.

Airport arrivals
Inside the terminal with a name board rather than texting from a holding lot. The flight is tracked, so a delay moves the pickup rather than costing you.

Weddings
The one booking where the chauffeur is part of the day rather than transport around it. Timings planned backwards from the ceremony.

A private chauffeur for a stay
Several days in the city with one person who learns your routine. Far easier than a new driver and a new explanation every morning.

Whatever the day needs
A Cadillac XTS for one or two, an Escalade for a group with luggage, a Sprinter for a team. The chauffeur is the constant.
Hourly with a minimum, or flat for a single journey
Chauffeur service is hourly because the value is the waiting. The minimum varies by vehicle and date, and we confirm it in the quote rather than afterwards.
Tolls, parking and gratuity are inside the figure. There is no surge, no meter, and nothing added to the invoice once the day is done.
A long day may need a second chauffeur. Driving hours are capped by federal rule rather than by us. Where an itinerary runs past the limit we build the relief into the quote, instead of raising it the week before.

What is the difference between a chauffeur and a driver?
Licensing, employment and training. A chauffeur holds the TLC licence required to carry passengers for hire, is employed rather than contracted by the ride, is insured on our commercial policy, and is trained in the parts of the job that are not driving — luggage, doors, discretion, and knowing the city well enough to change the route before the traffic does.
Can I request the same chauffeur again?
Yes, and on an account we try to arrange it as a matter of course. It is the single thing regular clients ask for most. We cannot promise it on a specific date months out, but we will tell you honestly rather than agreeing and hoping.
Is chauffeur service only for corporate clients?
No. A good deal of it is private: a family moving between appointments, a visitor who wants one person for a week, a wedding, a day of property viewings. The booking works the same way.
How is it priced?
Hourly with a minimum, since the car and the chauffeur stay with you. A single journey with no waiting is quoted flat instead. Either way the figure is agreed before you book and includes tolls, parking and gratuity.
What is the minimum booking?
It depends on the vehicle and the date, and we confirm it in the quote. Tell us the day you have in mind and you will have a firm number rather than a range.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance?
Yes, on request and without fuss. Corporate, legal, school and production clients usually need one, and it is quicker for everyone if we send it with the confirmation.
Can a chauffeur work outside New York?
Yes. New Jersey, Connecticut, Westchester and Long Island are routine, and anything further is quoted as a day rate. For a trip that stays overnight, the chauffeur's accommodation is inside the quote.
Do you offer a stretch limousine with a chauffeur?
We arrange stretch limousines through a trusted affiliate rather than operating them ourselves, and we say so before you book. Everything else on our fleet page is our own vehicle and our own chauffeur.
Ready when you are
Send the date, the journey and the passenger count. We confirm the right vehicle and a flat rate, with nothing added afterwards.
